1The Challenge
A biotech researcher at a leading Bay Area research institution needed a green card urgently as their H-1B status was nearing the 6-year limit. Their research focused on novel cancer immunotherapy approaches, but they needed to demonstrate that their specific work was in the national interest — not just cancer research in general.
2Our Strategy
We leveraged the Matter of Dhanasar framework meticulously, crafting a three-prong argument: (1) substantial merit through published research with 200+ citations, (2) national importance by connecting their specific work to the Cancer Moonshot initiative and demonstrating how their findings could save thousands of lives, and (3) demonstrating they were well-positioned through institutional support letters, ongoing NIH funding, and a clear roadmap of future research. We filed with premium processing.
3The Outcome
The petition was approved in just 45 days with premium processing — no RFE issued. The researcher has since continued their groundbreaking work with the stability of permanent residency.
